Your Career

Your career is of obvious importance to you. A good job can lead to a happy home life, and a feeling of fulfillment and achievement.

But, what constitutes a ‘good job’?

That is a question that only YOU can answer. Ideally, you should be in a job that you enjoy, that challenges you daily, and pays it’s worth. You do not, and should not, have to accept anything less than this.

If your job is getting you down, and causing unnecessary stress, then it’s time to get out. Staying put will only lead to putting strain on all other aspects of your life - especially relationships, and family life.

Money worries are one of the biggest and most common causes of stress. You do not have to accept your current salary. If you think you are worth more, then ask your employer for a raise. If the answer is no, then do not be scared to search for an employer that will pay you what you deserve.

You are in control of your career, and you can change things for the better. A good attitude at work will attract the attention of others - including your boss - so it’s important to ensure you remain positive at all times.

Negative employees rarely get promoted. Put yourself in your boss’ position. Would you promote a negative person? I’m sure you wouldn’t. Negativity spreads, and no boss wants this. Be positive and proactive at work at all times - even if you are not 100% happy in your current role.

Always make the best of what you have, and strive to improve. Go the ‘extra mile’ every day. Complete tasks that are not in your job description. Challenge yourself.

But, why would I want to complete tasks that I’m not being paid to do? Simple, you are proving to yourself (and your employer) that YOU CAN.

As previously mentioned, you never have to accept anything less than you deserve. Everybody has a dream job. But, what is stopping you from having this job?

Maybe you didn’t reach the required level of education. Then, why not go back and study. If you cannot afford to leave your job, then attend evening classes, or enroll in home study courses. There is always an answer, and it’s normally only fear that prevents us from taking action.

We are all scared of failure, but the most successful among us have learned to control that fear. Next time you feel yourself becoming scared to do something, look at yourself in the mirror and say;

I am not scared of failure, I will achieve my goals

Set you career goals now, and constantly strive to achieve them. Setting goals is essential if you want to improve.
